Nothing to see here… Move on.

18th Jul 2007 · Posted in Misc by Frank Michlick · 1 Comment

Posting activity here is down to almost zero, and that’s because I’ve been busy (amongst other things), at our new blog Domain Name News. So decision time has come, and the decision is to integrate the posts from Domain Editorial into DNN, since I just can’t blog on two industry blogs.

I’ve already imported the posts and now need to move them to the correct categories. After that is done, you’ll notice that I will be redirecting the URLs from Domain Editorial over to Domain Name News. *Sniff* Good bye Domain Editorial, I’ll miss you.

Hey wait, maybe I’ll re-use the layout for something else, it’s too nice to throw away, don’t you think?

Yahoo! loses 8 executives in 1 year

1st Jun 2007 · Posted in Misc by Frank Michlick · 0 Comments

Apparently CTO Farzad Nazem is not the only one who left Yahoo! over the last year. ValleyWag uncovered that out of the 26 executives originally listed on Yahoo! Management page a year ago, 8 are now gone.

Valleywag writes:

Take a look at an archived copy of Yahoo’s investor relations site from a year ago. Of the 26 execs pictured, eight are gone, or going. Dan Rosensweig, the powerful chief operating officer, went when Sue Decker was put in charge of sales. The Hollywood exec picked by chief exec Terry Semel to take Yahoo into original video, Lloyd Braun, was dismissed. John Marcom, Chris Castro, Phu Hoang are all gone. Daniel Finnigan left after Hilary Schneider, one of Sue Decker’s favorites, took over classifieds. The departure of the troubled internet company’s long-time engineering head, Farzeed Nazem, was announced this week. And now Rabbe’s disappeared.

My apologies for the recent blogging slowdown, but one of my projects is going to launch soon, so I have been busy preparing for the launch.

Happy Easter!

8th Apr 2007 · Posted in Misc by Frank Michlick · 0 Comments

Happy Easter to the ones that celebrate it.

Easter domains: I recently sold “pascua.es”, meaning Easter in Spanish. Easter.com redirects to Hallmark and the domain is actually owned by them. HappyEaster.com does not resolve for me at the moment, what a waste.

Back online

If you are not reading this blog via a feedreader, you might have noticed that it was offline the last couple of days. It’s back now, but the server only has one active hard drive instead of the usual two. This means that I’ll try my best to move this blog off this server and onto the new one which has been ready for several months already. Also I think I might not go the the original planned route and run several blogs of a Wordpress MU installation, but rather modify Wordpress to use different configuration files based on the domain name of the blog.

Re: Downtime over last weekend

This blog and some other sites on the same server have experienced some problems over the last weekend. I apologize for the inconvenience that this may have caused to anyone, but everything should be back to normal now - and get better in the coming weeks as the sites are being moved to a new server.

Sendori introduces Pay Per Visitor traffic auction

16th Feb 2007 · Posted in Articles, Misc by Frank Michlick · 0 Comments

Sendori LogoWhile I did see the Sendori booth at DomainFest Global, I did not get to talk to them there. So I was glad to find out that TechCrunch posted something about them yesterday.

Sendori is a traffic broker company that connects domain owners and advertisers. TechCrunch’s Marshall Kirkpatrick has more information:

Sendori will auction off redirects from parked domains through their servers and to sponsored advertiser pages.

There’s a $2000 minimum buy-in for advertisers and the company is just expanding beyond very small beta tests now. Advertisers bid on a per-visitor basis. Sendori is currently running on angel funding.

The company’s patent pending technology will use cookies to ensure that visitors are redirected to the same page for 30 consecutive days even if the winning bidder has changed. Sendori will also track sales conversion rates for visitors it redirects to your site, it will allow advertisers to geotarget redirects and it will (try to) monitor and block click-fraud automatically.
