Introducing Dotcenter.com
A while ago Witek from Dotcenter.com in Poland contacted me and asked me if I wouldn’t mind publishing a little profile for his website. Finally I have found the time to edit some of the text he wrote. I hope that his tools prove to be useful to some of my readers.
The advanced search for expired domains (linked above) includes some neat features: You can for example find any expired domain which contains the word “blog” followed by “x”, “e”, “dot” or “my” etc. by entering “{x,e,dot,my}blog*” in the name pattern field. The names are checked daily against the registry database, but you can force a realtime check by selection “Check Status”.
2. Domain Names For Sale Search
Dotcenter collects all domains offered for sale on the major domain marketplaces and makes them searchable on their website.
3. Search Alerts
Any of the above two searches can be saved so that you receive notification if the system finds any new domains matching your criteria.
4. Whois
Their whois service integrates the other search options available, so you will also see if a domain is listed for sale or expired. The whois service also allows to check a combination of different TLDs.
5. Dictionary Domains
Everyday the availability of 15,000 common English language dictionary words is tested and published.
And Witek has got more plans for the future:
His next plans include prompting for related keywords in the search. So if you were to search for “animate”, you would also see the suggested terms “graphic, illustration, design, photoshop, pic, image, print”. He is also thinking about methods to actually rank the search results. Another feature will be a domain name monitoring solution. It seems that Witek has got many ideas and who knows, maybe we will also see him publish some research data one day.
