Verisign released their Domain Name Industry Brief Report today and once more has collected many interesting statistics on the world of domains. Chris Sheridan presented some of the information today at eNom’s Top Reseller Summit in Las Vegas. Again it contains a wealth of domain name related information. Most interestingly, it shows a strong growth of new domain registrations in the last quarter of 2006, which traditionally is a slow quarter, mostly due to the holidays. This can be taken as an indicator for an even stronger first quarter of 2007, since the first quarter is usually one of the strongest. Also ccTLDs are showing an increasing growth rate. At the end of 2006, an estimated total of 120 Million domain names were registered worldwide, adding another 32% to the registration based of 2005.
