Traffic: Internet Commerce Association launches

25th Oct 2006 · Posted in News by admin · 5 Comments

The Internet Traffic Association I have written about previoulsy has now officially been launched as the Internet Commerce Association. Some of the founding members are Name Administration Inc., Internet REIT Rick Schwartz, Howard Neu and Sedo.

Lawyer and Lobbyist and Phil Corwin will be representing the group in Washington DC. While speaking he pointed to the proposed contractual changes for the ICANN/Registry contracts which would allow tiered pricing.

I did want to comment that Domain Sponsor and Oversee.net are also founding members.

Although I am not directly involved, I have been very impressed by the [my employers'] commitment to giving back to the domain name community in participation like this, sponsoring and supporting domain name events, and stepping up to the plate to get behind issues and interests that grow the industry.

This association of domain name registrants and website owners is something that was well received by the audience at the TRAFFIC show, and the overall consensus was that it is going to be something that is generally aligned with the interests of most domain name registrants worldwide.

Jothan, sorry for not mentioning oversee.net and Domainsponsor, I must have missed that at the conference.

    No worries, Frank!

By the way, it was good to see you, Peter, and Craig representing Tucows there in Miami, and I look forward to seeing you at the next Domainer Dinner event, or hopefully sooner.

Jothan speaks the truth about Domainsponsor — it’s an accepted fact by all, but mentioning it is always great for giving the respect where it’s due. Now if we can just get Jothan to avoid cigs forever! We need JF around. (sorry big buddy!)
