Marchex revamps ZipCode landers

8th Aug 2006 · Posted in Press Releases by admin · Comments Off

Marchex, Inc. (NASDAQ: MCHX, MCHXP) announced that it has launched updated implementations of its more than 75,000 ZIP Code Web sites. Marchex also today announced that it has launched MyZIP.com (www.myzip.com) as a destination Web site that covers city and ZIP Code locations across the United States. MyZIP.com will also serve as the umbrella brand and gateway into Marchex’s ZIP Code Web sites and the associated city and local content.

The content that was integrated is from their OpenList platform, which they purchased earlier this year. Interesting also is that they are integrating Yahoo! Maps and weather information on the landers. Example site: www.98105.com

Marchex’s ZIP Code Web sites provide local search, locally targeted advertising inventory, and geographically relevant content covering 97% of all ZIP Code areas nationwide. Marchex owns .com and/or .net ZIP Codes in approximately 41,500 of the approximately 42,500 U.S. ZIP Codes (source: U.S. Postal Service). .CM (Cameron) activates WildCard DNS

5th Aug 2006 · Posted in Tidbits by admin · 1 Comment

The operator for the .CM TLD (Cameron) has apparently activated WildCard DNS for all of their non-registered names and is displaying PPC advertising. What makes this different from
other ccTLDs that have done this in the past? Well, .CM is a typo of .COM.

[Update]: Judging from the IP address that the domains resolve to, it appears that this service is supplied by Hitfarm/NameView/GDEi.com.
