Quick report from the GeoDomainExpo

Fin Lemonade was so kind to send us his report from the GeoDomainExpo on June 4th. My apologies for posting this so late.

Chicago- The 2nd Annual GeoDomain Expo wrapped up Saturday after 2 full days of first-class presentations and networking.

In attendance were more than 100 people, most of whom were members of promoter Associated Cities, an exclusive organization whose membership is limited to those who own city.com domains. Some of the world’s most valuable domain properties were represented including NewYorkCity.com, Chicago.com, Glasgow.com, Scottsdale and too many others to properly list.

Also joined by the attendees were representatives from nearly a dozen sponsors (including my own Klickerz) all there to demonstrate to domain owners how to earn more money from their valuable holdings.

Although severe thunderstorms in New York grounded several scheduled speakers at the last minute there was no shortage of sparks at the event itself. Highlights were AC Chairman Dan Pulcrano’s introduction were he took the opportunity to offer personal recognition to several of the attendees and Gordon Borrell’s inspiring insights on the emergence of local online advertising and how geodomains are in the right place at the right time.

All in all it was a great show, one well worth attending. I can’t wait till next year!

  1. [...] I’m no MENSA member, but it’s always been my perception that a packed tradeshow full of attendees and sponsors means that a sector is white hot. The last 4 internet- related shows I attended were all very well attended and many, compared to previous shows, have grown dramatically. More sponsors, more attendees, more buzz, more press releases during shows. As examples : Domain Roundtable has grown dramatically from it’s first year in 2005. Last I heard TRAFFIC in Las Vegas was attended by over 500 people. . The Affiliate Summit in January was sold out. The recent GeoDomainExpo shows that even a highly targeted niche sector of the internet has grown big enough to have its own gathering. So, the Internet Retailer 2006 show is not alone and I would make a fairly safe bet that all of these shows will see more growth at their next locations. Internet business is on fire and the tradeshow business sure seems to be a good place to be as well! [...]
